This famous quotation expresses Clark's excitement, and no doubt that of the rest of the famous Lewis and Clark Expedition, at having arrived on the Pacific Coast, the end point of their expedition. What happened next and why they named the place Cape Disappointment you will learn on the tour.

DESCRIPTION

Throughout the park are excellent views of the Pacific Ocean and the Columbia River. You'll also find old-growth forests, lakes, freshwater and saltwater marshes, streams and tideland meadows. This site is a great bird-watching location, from tiny hummingbirds to the broad-winged Bald Eagle.

For lunch we make our way to Long Beach via several scenic stops e. i. North Head Lighthouse and Beard's Hollow. Once at the village, we'll have about 2 hours free time to explore. We might even put the truck into 4wheel drive for a short drive along the beach.

On our way back we'll cross the mighty Columbia River on the famous Astoria-Megler-Bridge into the State of Oregon.

  • 07:00 - Depart from Seattle

  • 09:00 - Coffee stop in Montesano

  • 09:30 - Passing through the scenic towns of Raymond and South Bend

  • 10:30 - Arrive at Fort Canby, Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center

  • 11:00 - Waikiki Beach (optional short hike to Benson Beach)

  • 12:00 - North Head Lighthouse (optional short hike to Beard's Hollow)

  • 12:30 - Long Beach Peninsula

  • 01:30 - Long Beach Village (free time)

  • 03:30 - Depart from Long Beach

  • 07:30 - Arrive in Seattle
